Staying at 73 Milton: North Island New Zealand B&B Review

You may be too tall to sleep in a Hobbit hole, so staying at the 73 Milton bed and breakfast is the next best thing!

Fave Bed and Breakfast Features

Nestled in the countryside just outside of Cambridge, New Zealand, 73 Milton was a lovely spot to rest my head on my mini North Island road trip.

The property boasts a stunning main house with the guest rooms right next door. Each room is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay – queen size bed (setup varies depending on your booking), tv set, clean cozy bathroom, and pull-out couch for extra guests. There’s also a separate common room with more space to relax and cook simple meals during your stay.

Light breakfast is provided in your room every morning so you can charge up for each day of adventure!

My favorite feature of the property is the lovely intimate swimming pool just behind the main house. Don’t forget about the switched seasons in the southern hemisphere! This pool is perfect for relaxing on those warm January evenings.

Location and Surrounds

73 Milton is perfectly situated near the town of Cambridge, known as the heart of New Zealand’s North Island.

It really is super conveniently located – just a short drive from Auckland, Hobbiton Movie Set (my personal favorite), Rotorua, Coromandel Peninsula, Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, and heaps of other hiking, boating, and exploring spots.

Southern (Hemisphere) Hospitality

One of my favorite parts of staying at bed and breakfasts is how welcoming the hosts are, and Angela and Martin are no different. They welcome you personally to the property and have great recommendations from their years of living in the area.

And of course I can’t forget about their friendly cats, Johnny and June! You’ll spot these feline beauties basking in the sun in every part of their lovely home.

These hosts are also offering the opportunity of a lifetime – owning 73 Milton yourself! That’s right, this beautiful property is for sale!

Angela and Martin are moving on to their next adventure, so if you’ve ever thought about owning a beautiful home and B&B in one of the most stunning parts of New Zealand, now’s your chance!

Send any inquiries to Martin at or click here to send him a message!

I had such a peaceful stay at this bed and breakfast. It was the perfect stop after a day of exploring Hobbiton Movie Set before moving on to stunning Rotorua.

I would absolutely recommend 73 Milton to any friends traveling through my new favorite country!
